Between 1736 and 1742 the local church was newly built after being burned down in a fire. The builder slept and ate in the farm house next to the church until his work was done. Gradually, through the centuries, the farmhouse became a boarding house and a restaurant. As tourism to the area increased, the boarding house became the hotel which today still stands, with all the original charm and character of an old inn. | |

The hotel is conveniently located for visiting Bavarias famous castles: Linderhof (15 km), Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau (40 km), Nymphenburg (95 km), and Herrenchiemsee (140 km). Germanys highest mountain, the Zugspitze, also lies nearby. Winter sports fans will appreciate our proximity to the nearby ski resorts at Kolben and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, while experienced skiiers can pay a visit to the Laber. There are also several routes for hiking and cycling in the surrounding area. Other recommended daytrip destinations include Pfaffenwinkel with its various rococo-style churches, Innsbruck in Austria and Bolzano/Bozen in the South Tyrol. |
